The Shoe Tree

I ran across this tree near Woodstock, IL a few years ago and marked the location on my gps tracker so I would be able to find it. Well, Saturday was that day and I decided to revisit the shoe tree. I'm not really sure why it's there, or who put shoes there, but I think it's awesome.

The Nutcracker

I love The Nutcracker. And I love going behind the scenes at performance venues. So it's that time of year, so I took advantage of spending some time backstage as members of State Street Dance rehearsed for their production of the holiday classic.

Tattoo

I met a man today from Geneva who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941. At the time, he was an 18-year-old private in the U.S. Marine Corps. I mentioned that my dad was a Marine and served in Korea and he had the tattoo of the USMC insignia to prove it. That's when Mr. O'Flaherty rolled up his sleeve to show me the same tattoo my dad has, only his is on his forearm. Pretty cool.
